Feels like Spring arrived in January this year!  Other than a few frosty mornings, we have been enjoying record warm temperatures.  It is still too early to be out in the garden, so take advantage of this time and consider piecing a new quilt, or making some new accessories.

Changing over to a summer quilt can instantly freshen up a bedroom after spring cleaning.  Replace dull pillow cases and cushion covers with some new ones made from a trendy fabric line. Forget the dated granny patchwork and go for the current chunky patterns that are a snap to sew and can lift the look of tired upholstery. A fabric covered bulletin board is also an inexpensive way to seasonally change the look in a room - and they make a great gift!

We are participating in the Trend-Tex Canadian Cottage Quilt Challenge.  The fabric line is designed by Robyn Pandolf from Moda© fabrics and is very inspiring.  The response so far has been great!  The fabrics are instock now.  If you would like more information please go to trendtexfabrics.com and read the guidelines.  There will also be information available in the shoppe as well.  2 quilts will be submitted, one small and one large from all the entries at the shoppe.  Good luck! - I know there are a lot of talented customers and I hope you will come in, buy some fabric and get creative!


"What's New at the Garden"

Black Batting available on a wide 96+" roll.  Great for quilts with a black or dark background. This batting will eliminate any "bearding" with your quilting.  It is a 60poly/40cotton blend ensuring the fibres stay inside the quilt and not pulled through.  It has a nice medium loft as well.  Try it, you will like it!


Beautiful solid wood quilt racks designed & locally crafted here on the West Coast of BC.  There are 2 styles of floor stand quilt racks that will hold up to 3 quilts each. There is a wall rack that holds one quilt and has a display shelf. These quilt racks are updated stylings on a classic theme.  All of these racks have been stained, sealed and ready to go.  You can order a custom colour for any of these quilt racks.

Bamboo Batting  that's what!  This new batting is a 50/50 blend of natural bamboo and organic cotton fibres.  It is extremely clean, durable and hypoallergenic.   A perfect low loft batting for just about anything you want to quilt.  Did you know that bamboo is a renewable resource?  It is grown without any pesticides or chemicals.  Even though bamboo is a tough, fibrous plant, the batting is very soft and drapable.  Available /m on a 96" factory roll.  

Aurofil 50 wt, 2 ply Piecing Thread is available on 1200m spools, in white, black, ecru and grey.  A very smooth, lint-free cotton thread ideal for piecing.  $10 per spool. 

Mettler Variegated Thread is available in a new 50 weight.  This thread is ideal for the home quilter with a domestic machine.  It does not cause any tension problems because it is the exact same weight as the regular Mettler 50/3 piecing thread.  A pure cotton thread with attitude!  Available in small and large spools.  Try it - you will love it!

Jelly rolls are a hit!  These precut 2½" strips displayed in a roll are a great start for lap quilts and many other projects.  There are some books and patterns available now to inspire you.  So much fun having 40-50 fabrics all coordinated! Check out the selection.
